Signature landmarks of Malaysia

PMO’s office in Putrajaya, the dome shaped stately grandeur that captures the sight in Putrjaya reminds me of Coleridges description of Kubla Khan’s palace in Xandu.

In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree : Where Alph, the sacred river, ran Through caverns measureless to man Down to a sunless sea. So twice five miles of fertile ground With walls and towers were girdled round : And there were gardens bright with sinuous rills, Where blossomed many an incense-bearing tree ; And here were forests ancient as the hills, Enfolding sunny spots of greenery. The only difference is that instead of the sacred river a man made lake, spanning across 650 hectares flows through. Encompassing the beautiful mosque, the bridge and the dazzling sunset, which could be expereinced by taking the river cruise in Putrajaya.

From Putrajaya, ones you drive back to KL, the Twin towers, act as the guide to bring you back to the city. The garden holds the sky rise surrounding it and one can enjoy a leasurely view by sitting in coolness of the fountain.
In Malaysia there is an amalgam of old and modern architecture.
The dome shaped structures of the mosques and the PMO's office have been inspired by the byzantine structures of renaissance period. The Petronas Twin towers remains still the twin tallest buildings surpassing the World Trade center.
Designed by Argentine architect César Pelli and Filipino-Malaysian Engineer Deejay Cerico under the consultancy of J. C. Guinto, and Filipino Designer Dominic "Minick” Saibo, the Petronas Towers were completed in 1998 after seven years of construction and became the tallest buildings in the world.
