Perspective is Everything?

Prambanan Temple at Yogjakarta, Indonesia. A UNESCO world Heritage site, largest Hindu temple in Indonesia and one of the World's biggest in South East Asia.

The 9th Century Hindu temple, is the symbol of TRIMURTI. Prambanan temple has a special significance because the three Gods Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva's temples are stretched in the 17 kms compound. The expression of God, in Hindu philosophy, prevalent since post Vedic period, The Creator, Brahma; the Preserver, Vishnu; The Destroyer, Shiva all of the three Gods/ Elements, make a complete circle of life.

Perspective was better explained when I walked through National Geographic society’s latest exhibition.
In the world of photography there are not only B/W & Coloured scales there are grey scales as well. Now when one frames a shot, whose story are we telling? Was my query; Maggie stabber’s reply was “the real art of telling a story is behind the vision.”

From a perspective, one can delude oneself and think but when you are taking a picture, creating a frame, you always create from who you are. The story always resonates an essential part of the photographer’s identity. Very similar to writing. Rebecca West articulates "Writing has nothing to do with communication between person and person, only with communication between different parts of a person's mind."So then the answer is, a person’s perspective, which is very individualistic.

Recently in Delhi, an education institution JNU was all the more in news. The reporting’s and the interviews were splashed across media on some channels the issue of Nationalism was raised and on others conspiracy became the selling point. So whose perspective shall we consider valid?

An education institution is more or less a place of acquiring knowledge, wisdom, with a happy go lucky attitude enjoyed by the students. So where does the perspective vary?

An incident blown out of proportion by some media channels and some political parties for their very personal gain, should not be deluded as a perspective. For some things in life cannot be left to perspectives and interpretations. A rowdy is a rowdy no matter what dress code he wears.
