Highlights from Barcelona

Art is what art does, it inspires.
By being a sponge, as I traveled to Spain, I was enthralled by the architectural designs of Gaudi and Gothic styles.

Art is always and everywhere assosiated to the immortal movement of its time.

The Catalonia Cathedral with its Gothic architectural style, completed in 1420, had inspired Antoni Gaudi to create his own master piece the Sagrada Famila.

Although Gaudi's seven works have been the signature landmarks which adorn Barcelona and have become UNESCO world heritage sights.
His best is the crypt and the nativity facade. In that serene atmosphere while looking at the facade, made me think -
Jesus hanging on cross- a symbol of victory in defeat.
Death ends all things so is the comprehensive conclusion of a story. But in religion after the sojourn of a man's traces on earth ends; a new begining of  his significance is noted, marked, calculated and then brought in use. Martyrs always have a special place in history, mostly all religions are propagated thus.

Gaudi's other works are Casa mila, Casa Batllo, Casa Vicens & Park Guell.
Most of the Casa's can be compared to modern style of apartments. The roof, attics, floor highlight a certain unique feature. Most of his roof tops display unique design with play of ceramic.

Barca visit is incomplete if you do not visit the mecca of football. FCB museum. Although my son and I couldn't see any of the matches as they were not  played during our stay but visitng the museum, gallery and football stadium gave its high. For first timers visiting Barca, a three day stay is sufficient. Apart from Barcelona, the must see places are Seville, Granada, Cordoba. Which is known as Andalusia. So more on that on my next post.
