Fool’s Paradise

The month of March is marching to its end. April fools day and national humor month is about to play its bugle.

But the digital world is suddenly waking up from its fools paradise.

Facebook and its advertisers are pushing chairs, rolling their sleeves, rubbing their eyes to a mere fact that they can fool the people/users sometime/ most of times but not always.

Intelligence gathering = DATA

A platform with hundreds of millions of users.
User friendly log-ins.
To share information, contacts in exchange for a social experience.
Even playing words with friends can get measured.

All in the name of an App which makes an open world, a connected world, a free world.

Open, connected, yes. But allowing the development of the app, it was imperative of Facebook to be responsible that extended beyond a-one-time agreement to its terms and conditions.

Free!! its high time now this word should be seen with caution.

Facebook accepts that it received red flags and failed to summon the audit rights. Whats worse is that on one hand they were riding high on profits measured in billions and on the other completely failed to validate the uncomfortable symmetry of policy and practice.

Facebook-platforms failings will be borne by the advertisers using the same platform.

But what about the consumer/user?
If the users stay so will the advertisers unless off-course, Facebook puts a stop to share data from the openness and connectedness to optimize advertising. That will cost Facebook dearly.

So the real April fool's day thought is, only the real fool is the fool who never risks playing the fool.
